Bel Forno ethnography

Despite being classified a university-wide general interest course, Architecture 110AC (Social and Cultural Factors in Architecture and Urban Design) at UC Berkeley put its students through a rigorous program. One of its major assignments, the ethnography project, challenged me to interact with complete strangers in their home environment in order to analyze the effectiveness of our particular café's environment. My partner and I interviewed subjects about their opinions on this cafe's environment, compiled the interview transcripts into taxonomies, and crafted a re-design of the floor plan to better suit its customers. You can view the original report. I created the visual design for the report, its diagrams, and its resulting poster. This project finished in Spring 2003.
